Our Story

History of RCCG Canaanland

The story of the Redeemed Christian church of God, Canaan land dates back to 1993, when in furtherance of the mandate given to The General Overseer of the RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, to take the gospel to the ends of the earth, model parishes were set up by the Redeemed Christian church of God. One of these model parishes was the Apapa Parish, which in turn established Victory Temple as one of its first missions, by Pastor Asuquo Ernest Mfon aka- Pastor Eskor Mfon of blessed Memory. The parish was planted at Sizzlers Hall, Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Victory temple attained full parish status in January 1995 and became known as Victory Parish. In 1999, the then Victory Parish, was renamed Canaan Land, when the church moved from Sizzlers Hall to her permanent site at 1 Canaan land street, Lekki, Lagos.

At various points, after the church relocated to her permanent site, to further aid construction work, the church moved her services to the chartered institute of bankers auditorium ‘’Banker’s House’’ at Victoria Island.

CHRISTIAN SOCIAL RESPONSIBILTY

As an Outreach of The Redeemed Christian church of God, Canaan Land ‘’ Dorcas League’’ was established to bear the burden of care for the needy, especially vulnerable young people in destitute and economically deprived situation. It has borne this burden for many years, ministering to this group of people with a definite purpose and passion to reach them with material succor and also to minister Christ as Succor for their spiritual and emotional rejuvenation.  Dorcas league,  was initially created (as the name of this character connotes) over the years has impacted the lives of vulnerable people , by the grace of God, in the following areas: Christian Fellowship, Feeding, reconciliation with families, provision of  medicals, clothing and a home called New Life Initiative.  Many souls have been saved during Dorcas League fellowship meetings and there were many testimonies and glorious turnaround in the lives of its members. More than 150 members were reconciled back to their families to the glory of God; with them returning to school or taken up apprenticeship in established trade.

A Clinic with a resident Nurse and other Medical Personnel was established on the church premises in 2005, for the benefit of church members and the Community. Many medical Outreaches were also conducted by the Clinic, during which free drugs were disbursed, free medical tests were conducted and medical advices were also given.

Education is the key to self-actualization, progress and development, hence RCCG Canaan Land consistent invested in the education of its disadvantaged members and thereby giving them access to better life.

The church Leadership, guided by the Welfare Team, decided to partner with a school for the under privileged in the Lekki Area which led to the adoption of Marwa Primary school. By the grace of God, the church has been a blessing to the school, sponsoring renovation/ refurbishment  works, supply of several educational facilities, as well as the , provision of food and snacks to its pupils, all in contribution towards the creation of a conducive and comfortable environment for learning.

The Canaan Land school initiative also paid the fees of a number of students every term also contributes towards the procurement of school uniforms and foot wears. .
